Hi, I’m Mo and I’m affectionately known by children as the Animal man!
I own and run the Natural History Lecturing Service known as Animals in Hands – the natural history lecturing service with a difference!
I set up Animals in Hands four years ago having previously worked for one of the Uk’s largest natural history lecturing services for three years where I quickly became an area manager and where I gained a great deal of experience and insight into working with children and with the general public; I already had experience of working with animals, this is how I started my journey to become the Animal Man.
One of my earliest memories is when I was five, being taken to Kashmir for the very first time to visit my relatives. Whilst there, I was fascinated with the wildlife to be found in my grandparent’s garden and how I got into trouble for catching a snake and taking it into the house to show my family! The next day I left the snakes alone, instead I caught a lizard but again I got into trouble for taking that it into the house too!
I guess you can say that from the age of five I have had a love of wildlife and it came as no surprise to my family when I finally realised my dream of working with animals and left the family furniture business to take a fulltime job working at the West Midland Safari Park as a Zoo keeper where I got to work with a wide range of animals, from exotic insects and snakes to the big cats.
The rest is history, I am now doing a job that I love – working with animals and with children, having the unique title of the Animal Man.
As an aside, as the Animal Man I am able to deliver animal handling workshops in Urdu, Punjabi and Mirpuri as well as in English.
